A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip exploded in western Negev of Israel on Sunday afternoon, the Israeli military said.

The projectile fell in an open area, causing no injuries or damage.

A military spokeswoman said security forces were searching for the remains of the rocket, the sixth fired from the coastal territory at Israel since Thursday.

The Israel Air Force attacked five targets in northern and southern Gaza overnight on Saturday, including an underground rocket launching pad, just hours after a rocket struck near the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon. No injuries in that attack has been reported either.

Early Friday Israel's retaliatory air strikes targeted five sites operated by Palestinian militants in response to three rockets that fell near the town of Sderot.
