China remained the largest fertilizer exporter to Vietnam during the first quarter of 2014, accounting for over half of Vietnam's imported fertilizer, said Vietnam Industry and Trade Information Center (VITIC) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade on Wednesday.
During the January-March period, Vietnam spent 126.1 million U. S. dollars to buy 400,000 tons of fertilizer from China, up 0.72 percent in value and 32.85 percent in volume year-on-year, said VITIC.
In March alone, potash fertilizer was the type most imported from China at an average price of 340 US dollars per ton, VITIC added.
Vietnam imported some 775,000 tons of fertilizers worth 250.6 million US dollars in the first quarter, up 3.22 percent in volume and down 18.95 percent in value year-on-year, said VITIC.
