Li Chongxi, former top political advisor of Southwest China's Sichuan Province, was expelled from the provincial political advisory body on January 16 for severe discipline violations.
The standing committee of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) decided to remove Li from his post of top provincial political advisor as well as his CPPCC membership.
The Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection said in a statement on December 29 that Li, former chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPPCC, was investigated for suspected serious violations of discipline and law.
