Former vice governor of South China's Hainan Province Ji Wenlin was expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) for "severe violation of disciplines and laws", according to a decision approved by the CPC Central Committee.

"Investigations show that Ji took advantage of his posts to seek benefits for others, demanded and received a huge amount of bribes, and committed adultery," said an official CPC statement released Wednesday.

Ji's above-mentioned acts led to severe violation of disciplines, and his taking bribes is a suspected crime, it said.

According to the statement, the CPC Central Committee approved a decision to expel Ji from the Party.

The State Council, or China's cabinet, approved a decision to dismiss Ji from public office, it said, adding that his alleged criminal issues and clues have been transferred to judicial organs for further management.
