A senior political advisor from Northwest China's Shaanxi Province is under investigation for suspected violations of discipline and laws, said the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI)  Wednesday morning, 14 hours after a vice-governor of Hainan Province was investigated for the same reason.

Zhu Zuoli, 59, vice-chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, had worked in Shaanxi provincial economic and commercial commission for 18 years and later in the Shaanxi development and reform commission for over seven years.

Zhu's investigation could be related to his past experiences in economic fields, the Legal Mirror reported on Wednesday. 

The news of Zhu's investigation comes after the fall of the vice-governor of Hainan Province Ji Wenlin. 

Ji worked as a ministerial secretary of the Ministry of Land and Resources in 1998 when Zhou Yongkang was appointed as the first head of the Ministry, The Beijing News reported.

According to The Beijing News, Ji had a close relationship with Li Hualin, vice general manager of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC),  who was put under investigation in 2013 for seriously violating discipline. During Ji's tenure as the mayor of Haikou, the capital city of Hainan, Ji cooperated with CNPC in several oil projects.

 Ji was also the first provincial-level official investigated this year.

The CCDI announced Wednesday that it will continue releasing results from the second round of investigations which covered six provinces, Xinhua News Agency, Ministry of Land and Resources, Ministry of Commerce and China Three Gorges Corporation.
