Russian double Olympic pole vault champion Yelena Isinbayeva has given birth to her first child, the Russian athletics federation said Sunday.

The 32-year-old gave birth to a daughter, and both are "feeling­ well," a statement on the federation's website said.

Isinbayeva said in May that she was planning to return to training as soon as possible ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
