Parents of a 5-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted by a 12-year-old boy, have rejected the 1,000 yuan compensation paid by the boy's family as being too little, the Beijing News reported.

On July 28, the girl surnamed Li, told her father she was physically assaulted by the boy, surnamed Zhao, while watching animation at Zhao's home. Zhao was then reported to the police. The diagnosis from two hospitals revealed that there was no intercourse between the two children.

The father of Zhao confessed that they failed to provide sex education. Child experts suggest parents start sex education earlier and teach children how to protect themselves from the dangers of sexual assault.
