The annual Open Door to Art summer festival came to a close with a dance performance staged by The National Ballet of China at the Forbidden City Concert Hall (FCCH) on Sunday night.
According to the organizer FCCH, a total of 68 performances, eight summer camps and an exchange camp for Chinese and Germany youngsters have been held at the festival.
Additionally, children interested in music were able to take part in 10 themed lectures, as well as have the opportunity to attend several free performances.
Sunday's performance featured classic ballet selections including Western favorites Swan Lake and Don Quixote, as well as local favorites such as The National Ballet of China's most-well-known signature performance The Red Detachment of Women.
"This year's performance aimed to raise the interest of the next generation. So we chose to stage classic dances to allow them to see and learn more," said Wang Quanxing, vice president of The National Ballet of China.
The Open Door to Art festival first began in 1994.
