China and Malaysia should strengthen their cooperation in infrastructure, connectivity and financing and promote the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership, said Chinese President
Xi Jinping on Monday.
Xi called for the two countries to maintain high-level communications and enhance mutual trust when meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak.
Xi called for the two sides to build the industrial parks in China's Qinzhou and Malaysia's Kuantan as flagship projects for China-Malaysia cooperation and models for China-ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) cooperation.
The two countries should enhance bilateral cooperation on law enforcement and safety, promote cooperation between the two armies and cultural and people-to-people exchanges, said Xi.
Xi said that China supports Malaysia's rotating ASEAN chairmanship next year.
Xi also called for the two countries to promote maritime cooperation, build the
Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and push forward regional peace, stability and prosperity.
Najib hoped the two countries can strengthen mutual trade and investment.
Najib said Malaysia is looking forward to the early launching of the Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank and wishes to be a sincere and reliable partner with China.
Najib is in Beijing to attend the 22nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting.
