London Irish have signed New Zealand-born Scotland international Sean Maitland from Scottish side Glasgow, the English Premiership club announced Thursday.

London Irish said that the 26-year-old British and Irish Lion, who previously played for the Crusaders and Canterbury, has signed a "long-term contract."

Maitland played for the New Zealand team that triumphed at the ­Under-19 World Cup in 2007, but switched ­allegiances to Scotland, where his grandparents hail from, after joining Glasgow during the 2012-13 season.
