US and partner-nation military forces have conducted a total of 19 airstrikes against Islamic State (IS) forces in Syria and Iraq in a 24-hour period, the US Defense Department said on Wednesday.

According to a DOD statement, 13 airstrikes near the Syrian city of Kobani destroyed 12 IS tactical units, nine fighting positions, a staging area, three buildings and a vehicle.

Meanwhile, the international military forces conducted six airstrikes near Al Asad, Kirkuk, Mosul, Sinjar and Tal Afar in Iraq, destroying two IS tactical units, eight buildings, six shipping containers, four fighting positions, four vehicles and a heavy weapon.

The strike took place between Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning, the statement said.

Coalition nations conducting airstrikes in Iraq include the United States, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Coalition nations conducting airstrikes in Syria include the US, Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
