An anti-graft official in Guangdong Province is being investigated for suspected serious violations of discipline and law, China's top disciplinary watchdog announced Wednesday.

Zhong Shijian, 59, is the deputy secretary of the Guangdong provincial discipline inspection commission.

He is also head of the Guangdong supervision department and director of the provincial corruption prevention bureau.

Zhong warned the province of "landslide-like corruption problems" at a February provincial conference, reported Beijing-based newspaper The Mirror.
