The San Antonio Spurs beat Oklahoma City Thunder, 113-88, on April 8. The joy of this victory also belongs to the international sportswear brand Peak Sport because one of the top Spurs players, Tony Parker, is sponsored by Peak. This marks the 730th basketball game for Parker and fellow players Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncun, also called the "GDP combination," which is the most times a player combo has played in the history of the NBA regular season.
To celebrate this victory, Peak released 730 PEAK Tony Parker II "Alamo" Limited sets on April 9 in China and US stores. The set includes a pair of PEAK Tony Parker II basketball shoes along with a T-shirt and a baseball cap. They will be available in 14 Peak flagship stores in nine cities including Beijing, Guangzhou in Guangdong Province, Ningbo in Zhejiang Province and Peak's store on tmall.com.
Since the GDP combination was originally formed in 2002, they have achieved four NBA championships and never missed one playoff. Throughout this period, they competed with other well-known combinations like Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant's "OK combination," and LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh's "Big Three."
The three players have shown to NBA fans the true meaning of "We are one." Parker said his combination with Duncan and Ginobili is very successful.
Looking back to all the championships that the team has achieved, in the eyes of Spurs' fans, the GDP combination embodies the spirit of the Alamo in San Antonio in Texas, US. As a pivotal event during the Texas Revolution (1835-36), the Battle of the Alamo in 1836 occurred when the then Mexican province of Texas rebelled against the Mexican government and declared independence. The Battle of the Alamo left a substantial legacy and influence within American culture, showing off the people of San Antonio's highest form of courage under free will.
This is also the core value of the Spurs' GDP combination. Parker once said that there is only one way he will leave the Spurs and that is when Ginobili and Duncan retire and when the head coach of the San Antonio Spurs, Gregg Popovich, resigns. After all, the GDP combination has created too many legends, bringing the whole team to the triumphant chair over and over again.
