Foreign ministers of the Association of the Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) extended their condolences in Kuala Lumpur Sunday to the victims of a powerful earthquake that struck Nepal and surrounding neighbors India and Bangladesh at midday on Saturday.
In a statement released during the 26th ASEAN summit in the Malaysian capital, the ASEAN foreign ministers said they were saddened by the loss of lives and damages to properties and infrastructures as well as historical heritage sites in the capital of Kathmandu and its surrounding areas.
They also expressed their solidarity at this trying time, saying that they are ready to extend their assistance and join international efforts in assisting the governments and peoples of Nepal, India and Bangladesh.
