The Singapore Red Cross (SRC) has said that it will increase its initial contribution of 50,000 Singapore dollars ($37,594) for relief items to 200, 000 Singapore dollars ($150,376), given "the severity of the situation in Nepal".
These relief items and emergency supplies will be dispatched in collaboration with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), it said on Tuesday, adding that the items include household kits and shelter tool kits as many in Nepal have lost their homes.
SRC also said that as of 5 p.m. on Tuesday, the public has also donated more than 200,000 Singapore dollars (150,376 US dollars).
SRC's advance team will be in Nepal by Wednesday to link up with the Nepal Red Cross and other partners. It is also deploying three medical teams, with the first team due to arrive on Friday.
