Australia will finish off their preparations for this year's rugby World Cup with a brief tour of the US, featuring a one-off Test against the Americans in Chicago.

The Australian Rugby Union (ARU) announced Wednesday the Test match would be played on September 5 at Chicago's Soldier Field, where the Eagles also hosted New Zealand's All Blacks a year ago.

North America is one of rugby's fastest growing regions. Playing numbers have been steadily increasing in recent years and are forecast to grow even quicker when rugby sevens is introduced to the Olympic program in Rio next year.

Australia, the US and Canada have all qualified for this year's World Cup, taking place in England and Wales from September 18 to October 31.
