Indonesia is preparing to hold the world' s paragliding championship in West Java from August 10 to 16, setting a target of 3 gold medals at the international event, official said here on Wednesday.
Over 135 world' s best paragliding athletes from 19 countries would take part in the 8th World' s Paragliding Accuracy Championship (WPAC) to be held in Puncak area of Bogor district, said Gendon Subandono, chairman of the event committee.
"This is the first time this event is conducted out of Europe," he told a press conference at the sport ministry.
The event comprise 3 sport categories, man's single, woman's single and groups with each countries having quota to send 10 of their athletes, Gendon noted.
For Indonesia, he said that the country set a target of securing 3 gold medals.
"We must get 3 gold medals from man's single, woman's single and group categories," Gordon stressed.
He said that Indonesia plans to send 5 male athletes and 5 female athletes to vie at the international sport event.
Gordon is upbeat over the 3 gold medals target as the Indonesian athletes would have advantages as they have often practiced at the location of the event.
"They have had been familiar over the location. This is beneficiary for them," he revealed.
