Adapted from a popular online novel of the same name,
The Monster Killer follows Wu Xin, an immortal who leads a team that hunts monsters during the The Republic of China (1912-1949). The show set a new record by being streamed more than 18 million times in a single day.
Show producer Cai Yinong said that the team took aim at the Internet audiences right from the start. "If we wanted to make it for the Internet and TV stations, it wouldn't be the same," Cai said.
