Bratislava's cinema Mladost hosts a Chinese Movie Week during September 3-9 that features a total of 13 films of Chinese production.

Chinese Ambassador to Slovakia Pan Weifang opened the screening of the film with the movie "Ballet in the Flame of War" by Yachun Dong and Nikita Mikhalkov on late Thursday.

The screened movie was directly linked with the anniversary of the end of the Pacific Theatre of WWII, as it is a portrait of Chinese people's resistance against Japanese aggression in Heilongjiang province.

Pan thanked all the guests, saying China is prepared to cooperate in peace with all countries.

"We remember the victory of the Chinese nation against the Japanese aggression and the world victory against fascism is not to deepen hatred. History is a mirror. Only by remembering the history, we can prevent future tragedies," said Pan.

The film week combines documentaries and feature films. It will culminate on September 9 with the movie "The Flowers of War".

The event has been organised by the Chinese Embassy in Slovakia to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII.
