Authorities in Kaifeng, Henan Province refused to issue a marriage license to a local woman because she wasn't as ugly as her photo ID, media reported Sunday.

The 26-year-old surnamed Yin said that her civil affairs bureau had recently refused to register her marriage due to her lack of resemblance to her 10-year-old ID photo taken while she was still a homely teenager.

This is not the first time Yin's faced such problems, who said she is routinely asked for additional documentation to prove her identity when taking exams.

Despite renewing her ID around four years earlier, Yin said the photo has not yet been updated in the database.

Yin, who now boasts "double-fold" eyelids and a "high-bridged nose," so differs in appearance that officials say the photos are of two different people.

She blamed the ugly photo on "shabby equipment" and her lack of skills with cosmetics as a teen.
