On a Friday night when concert-goers were enjoying a concert in central Paris and when soccer fans were watching a match between France and Germany at the Stade de France, a series of terror attacks befell, killing at least 153 people and leaving the nation in mourning and the world in outrage.

On Aug. 21, 2015, an armed man opened fire on passengers of a Thalys high-speed train between Amsterdam and Paris, wounding three before being arrested.
On June 26, 2015, two men loyal to the Islamic State beheaded one man and rammed a car into the gas containers of a US gas company in southeast France, triggering an explosion and injuring two others.
On Jan. 7, 2015, two gunmen stormed into the Paris-based Charlie Hebdo satirical magazine offices and shot dead 12 people. An apparent associate of the shooters killed a police and four hostages held at a market in the flowing two days.
