Slovak police have implemented a number of preventive security measures in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday last week, Slovak Police Corps Presidium spokesperson Mariana Paulikova said on Monday.

Police patrols have been reinforced from 1,160 officers to almost 2,000 officers -- forming up 580 patrols, according to Paulikova.

Aside from regular tasks, Slovak police have increased border checks as well as the monitoring of locations with higher concentration of people such as airports, cultural and sports events, representative offices and the like.

More than 130 people died in Friday's attacks at multiple locations in Paris. The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
