Cho Seong-jin, the First Prize winner of the 17th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, reached the last stop of his solo China tour after successful concerts in Shanghai and Chongqing. The South Korean pianist brought Nocturne op.48 No.1, Sonata No.2, Scherzo No.3 and Preludes op.28 to Beijing's audiences at the Beijing Concert Hall on Saturday.

Also the youngest winner of the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition, Cho has played with world famous orchestras including the British Philharmonic Orchestra and the Russian National Orchestra, as well as cooperated with well-known conductors such as Lorin Maazel and Chung Myung-whun.

"In the beginning playing piano was just a hobby. My mother played piano when she was young, so we had a piano in our house. When I was 6 I took classes and after six months the teachers suggested I have professional training," Cho explained how he got his start at a press conference after the concert.
