Indonesia's IBO lightweight champion Daud Yordan is to face Japanese challenger Yoshitaka Kato in Jakarta on Feb. 5, promoter said here on Monday.
Raja Sapta, the promoter of the championship said that the fight would be a stepping stone for Yordan to challenge WBO world's lightweight champion Terry Flanagan from Britain.
"We chose Kato as the opponent because he has long wanted to face Yordan," Sapta said at the FX Building.
To prepare for the fight, Yordan would have practice in Bali under the guidance of Craig Christian from Australia, former trainer of former Indonesian WBA featherweight champion Chris John, the promoter said.
Yordan said that he had confidence to beat his Japanese opponent.
"I am really confident as I have practiced hard and analyzed the strength of the opponent," he told reporters.
