Big data refers to massive sets of information that are too large to be retrieved, managed, stored or transferred by traditional data processing applications. With the development of the Internet, big data is becoming increasingly important, as it takes a central position in a number of industries. In-car Internet, for example, has emerged on the basis of the mobile Internet, and every aspect of it from sign-in information to its services will rely on big data.
Automobile diagnostic company Launch and big data analysis company DataEye released the
2015 White Paper on China Passenger Vehicle Use on December 8 at the Beijing Ikebana Art Museum in Fengtai district. The white paper is the first report created by a corporation based on in-depth analysis of big data to be released in China. With it, Launch aims to facilitate the restructuring and upgrading of the automobile industry, and to provide professional data services to the automobile industry through a comprehensive report on the passenger vehicle safety industry chain based on data mining.
"This is Launch's greatest achievement in the two years since it transformed from a leading automobile diagnostic company to a leading automobile network company," said Jiang Shiwen, the executive vice president of Launch. "It is a milestone for the transformation of a traditional company to an Internet and big data platform. This launch event, which is aimed at the in-car Internet industry, presents a white paper that is based on real data. We would like to express that Launch is an open platform, and we would like to collaborate with other people in the industry to make the industry as a whole bigger and better."
Launch also announced the launch of its OBD big data platform at the event, which marks a new era for China's in-car Internet industry, as well as a new update of its Golo app. "Golo is a real-time communication social network app created for automobile companies, maintenance technicians and private car owners. We released the updated Golo X during this launch event featuring many innovations and breakthroughs in technology and techniques. First of all, it is smaller and occupies less space inside cars. Second, it costs 50 percent less than before. Finally, this version allows remote control," said Jiang.
The
2015 White Paper on China Passenger Vehicle Use was created based on big data from Launch and DataEye and supplementary data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, China Automotive Maintenance and Repair Trade Association and China Auto Maintenance Equipment Industry Association. It offers an in-depth analysis of the passenger vehicle service environment through data mined from 600 million mobile data terminals, 15 million automobile diagnosis reports, 120,000 maintenance technicians and 100,000 pieces of Internet-connected maintenance equipment along with an analysis of current passenger vehicle service conditions and driving behaviors, as well as portraits of maintenance technicians and potential automobile purchasers.
"Launch has been involved in the research and development of automobile diagnostics since 1994 and became a leader in the automobile market later. Launch will focus more on automobile repair and maintenance OTO [online-to-offline] development in the future so that private car owners can do maintenance in advance to prevent unnecessary damage and repairs," said Jiang.
