The authorities are revising Beijing's general urban plan. Under the new plan, the municipality's developed land will be held to less than 2,700 square kilometers by 2030, down from the original plan of 2,800 square kilometers by 2020. This goal will be achieved by curbing pointless and inefficient land use and by controlling construction land.
