Visiting Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras told Xinhua here Monday that
Brexit is a wake-up call for the European Union (EU) to reform its policies.
While noting that Brexit "will take a much greater toll economically on Britain than on Europe," the Greek leader said it is imperative for eurozone members to adjust its policies and take measures to strengthen the unity within the single-currency bloc.
Europe should be "awakened" to push forward European integration through such measures as building a new economic framework to both engage EU members and set limits on them, he added.
Tsipras believed Brexit will have a very limited impact on the debt-laden Greek economy, which is struggling to recover under the EU's bailout program.
The Greek premier is in Beijing for a five-day visit to boost bilateral cooperation and attract more Chinese investment to help revive the Greek economy.
