Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said here on Sunday that China is willing to be the most ideal and reliable partner for cooperation with Myanmar.
When meeting with his Myanmar counterpart Aung San Suu Kyi in the Lao capital on the sidelines of an
ASEAN foreign ministers' meeting, Wang said China and Myanmar have forged the "paukphaw friendship" or "brotherly friendship" in Burmese.
The two neighbors have always understood, respected and supported each other, he said.
China is ready to strengthen high-level exchanges, advance pragmatic cooperation, and boost cultural and people-to-people exchanges with Myanmar so as to inject new dynamism to their bilateral ties in the new era, said the Chinese top diplomat.
Calling China Myanmar's largest neighbor with goodwill, Aung San Suu Kyi, who is also the state counselor of Myanmar, said people of the two countries are good neighbors and friends.
Myanmar appreciates the support and help from China for its economic development and national reconciliation, she said.
Myanmar is also willing to join hands with China to forge positive and strong relations, Suu Kyi said, believing that their traditional friendship and cooperation will pass on from generation to generation.
