450,000 condoms will be distributed to athletes and staff at Rio 2016 to promote safe sex, said the International Olympic Committee.

The number is three times greater than the total provided for the London Games, and includes an Olympic first — the distribution of 100,000 female condoms.

The IOC says that increasing the number of condoms is to encourage the 10,500 athletes and staff to practice responsible sex, ensuring a safe time for all both on the streets and between the sheets.
