Sopita Tanasan of Thailand won the women's 48kg weightlifting gold medal at the Olympic Games here on Saturday.

Tanasan snatched 92kg and jerked 108kg for a two-lift total of 200kg for the gold medal, Sri Wahyunl Agustiani of Indonesia got the silver with 192kg and Hiromi Miyake of Japan bagged home the bronze in 188kg.
