No. 6: Cotton fluffing worker
Fluffing cotton is rarely seen in cities now, although those who were born in the 1960s and 1970s still have a clear memory of it. Workers fluffed cotton with bowstring and turned a pile of cotton into a quilt. Fluffing cotton used to be a very popular business. But now, many quilts made of synthetic fibers, silk or down feather sold in supermarkets have replaced cotton quilts. With highly-efficient machine production completely taking over manual fluffing, this task is gone forever.
