BYD new energy cars to enter Europe in 2011

Wang Chuanfu, CEO of BYD said the company will introduce its F3DM hybrid and e6 EV models into the European market in 2011. He believes solar-powered motors will dominate the auto industry in the future, according to the Beijing News.
The Chinese car and battery maker has signed an agreement with Daimler to cooperate on electric vehicles. Wang told the Beijing News at the Geneva Motor Show that BYD will offer core technology of power system for electric vehicles, and the company wants to take advantage of the German automaker's expertise in automotive engineering.
Wang said in the first stage of cooperation, the two companies will focus on research and development (R&D), and later on commercializing products.
"Commercializing our product will be easy after we are clear about our cooperation. Both companies have the ability to produce vehicles," said Wang. "We haven't set the share ratio. R&D is our first priority."
The Chinese car and battery maker is the only Chinese automaker participating at the Geneva Motor Show which started Thursday.
