"The generator was noisier than a vuvuzela."

Because of recent local power shortages, a restaurant on Shangnan Road rented a diesel generator to keep its air conditioners running smoothly and its lights from going out. However, the generator was so loud annoyed neighbors gathered outside the restaurant to complain. It wasn't until police arrived that the restaurant agreed to stop using it.
