"The concert is very balanced with instrumental showpieces and the exotic, sexy and virtuoso dancing of our Argentinean dancers," Gosselin said.

Over its 25 years, Quartango has appeared throughout the world and worked with several major symphony orchestras in North America, including L'Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal, the National Arts Center Orchestra in Ottawa, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, and the Regina Symphony Orchestra.

"What a musical pleasure to observe you, to listen to you and to realize the depth of musical preparation in your presentation," said Skitch Henderson, founder and music director of the New York Pops, the largest independent pops orchestra in the US, with whom Quartango shared the stage at the Carnegie Hall in 1996.

Its recent performance in Guatemala with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra directed by acclaimed conductor JoAnn Falletta also received praise from both the audience and the media.

"With elegantly flawless arrangements full of sensuality and wry humor, this group of classically trained musicians infuses the tango with a fascinating mixture of pathos and heat," said Harold McNeil, the critic for The Buffalo News, writing about Quartango's performance.

The group has charmed audiences and critics at many music festivals including the Montreal International Jazz Festival, the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, the Oxford Festival, and the Festival International de Lanaudiere.

Their music and their style have been recognized with the group receiving three Opus Awards, a Felix Award and a Juno nomination.

"As this is our first experience in China, we have decided to present Shanghai audience with our most practiced and popular concert," said Gosselin who expects the Shanghai audience to have "a fully emotional experience."

The Quartango concert is part of the MU-JEAN-SIC Festival organized by the Shanghai Concert Hall which aims to provide audiences different experiences with classical music in a relaxed and lively atmosphere.
