The Shanghai Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)

This museum is attached to the Shanghai Traditional Chinese Medicine University and was opened in 2004. The earliest TCM museum in China was the TCM Historical Museum founded in 1938 and has now been incorporated into the Shanghai TCM Museum along with the Specimen Room of Chinese Herbal Medicine, the Institute of Acupuncture and Moxibustion and the Historical Museum of School.

The historical museum covers more than 14,000 artifacts from the Stone Age to modern time, offering an overview of TCM for the past 5,000 years.

The Specimen Room of Chinese Herbal Medicine has more than 3,000 examples of Chinese herbal medicine and herbal products.

The Institute of Acupuncture and Moxibustion includes displays of bronze acupuncture figures from mid-18th century, medical instruments from the Stone Age and original ancient medical prescriptions from different eras.
