Performances at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai over the next two months will be primarily tailored towards students to coincide with the summer holiday, the deputy director of the Expo Bureau said at a press conference Monday.
Hu Jinjun said that students from more than 30 famous universities around the world, including Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard and Yale, will put on 31 art performances at the Expo Park over the next month.
Hu added that dramas encompassing elements of traditional Chinese culture, such as the Shaolin Temple and the Three Kingdoms period, will be staged, as well as musical performances from Japan, Mexico, Britain and Canada.
Over the past two months, 6,501 performances have been staged at the Expo Park, with the number of spectators reaching almost 8.5 million, according to statistics released by the Expo Bureau.
In order to avoid crushes when distributing tickets from the Expo Performance Center, Hu said that the authority has erected guardrails outside the building. There will also be personnel to keep people updated on ticket availability.
