Soccer pins score high sales at Expo Park
On the eve of the final game of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Sunday, sales revenues of the event's officially licensed soccer souvenirs inside the Expo Park reached more than 1 million yuan ($147,667).
"Pins of the 32 teams have been the hottest selling products in our store," Zhang Hui, a manger of an official manufacturer of the 2010 FIFA World Cup pins, told the Global Times Sunday. "If we could be as accurate as octopus Paul, we would have definitely issued a special champion pin."
According to Zhang, the pins take two to three weeks to produce.
"Our store will still sell World Cup souvenirs for a little while longer, but unfortunately we won't have enough time to order a championship pin," he added.
Still, Zhang was upbeat that sales volumes would remain high for the rest of the week as he said that the "festive atmosphere of the World Cup is sure to linger around for a while."
