Young Australians come out to play

As for his conducting style, Elder once described himself as "quite a physical conductor."
The eminent British conductor Adrian Boult, one of the most prominent figures in 20th century music, once quipped to Elder: "I see you are one of the sweaty ones," when they met backstage of the Proms in 1978.
Alexey Yemtsov, the piano soloist on this year's tour, will add a little spice to the coming performances.
Born in the Ukraine, the prize-winning classical pianist started learning to play at the early age of 7 and went on to study in Australia on a full scholarship in 1998 at the prestigious Australian Institute of Music.
Yemtsov has given recitals in major venues and music festivals in Australia, including the Sydney Opera House.
He has also given concerts in the UK, the US, China and Russia, and worked with world-famous orchestras and conductors including Vladimir Ashkenazy and Simone Young.
Yemtsov performed for former US president Bill Clinton when he visited the Ukraine in 1995.
This Shanghai concert is the AYO's third stop on its international tour across Australia, China and Europe.
As its 20th international tour since 1970, this year's three-continent tour started at the Llewellyn Hall in Canberra.
After three concerts in China, the AYO will continue its tour around Europe and will perform at some of the most prestigious concert halls in Europe, including the Royal Albert Hall in London and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
The AYO concert is also part of the MU-JEAN-SIC Festival, a music project organized by the Shanghai Concert Hall to promote classical music in Shanghai, especially among the younger generation.
