An old manuscript by renowned Czech writer Franz Kafka is for the first time being shown outside the country at a special literary exhibit on display this month at the Czech Pavilion inside the Expo Park.

Considered one of the most influential novelists of the 20th century, Kafka's replicate of his 1926 piece "Castle" is among the some dozen other works by revered Czech writers, including Milan Kundera and Karel Capek.

With the help of renowned author Arnošt Lustig, who is in the city to present the collection, the works are being shown inside the pavilion until September 19.

"We hope to introduce Chinese audiences to Czech literature," Martina Honcíková, manager of the exhibit, told the Global Times Sunday. "Many of our most revered writers are unknown to Chinese people, and we want to change that."

A series of photographs featuring the nation's capital Prague, taken by Jan Lukas, an American-born Czech, whose art is well-known in his home country, accompany the literary works.

Visitors unable to visit the exhibit this month will be able to view Kafka's works at the Prague Pavilion, where the pieces will stay until the end of the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.
