The Czech Pavilion is shelling out 500,000 yuan ($73,244) to World Expo visitors who can guess the weight of a giant gold teardrop showcased at their location, the pavilion's organizers said Wednesday.
The teardrop, dubbed LacrimAu and made of 24-karat gold, is around 80 centimeters in height and 50 centimeters at its widest point. The 10 visitors with the closest guess will win 50,000 yuan ($7,324) each. Zhang Na, a spokesperson for the pavilion, said that the teardrop would weigh over a ton if it were solid, but she told the Global Times that it is actually hollow. The final winners will be announced in October.
Apart from the competition, organizers will also invite one out of every 500 tourists to come into a glass exhibition room where the drop is located for a closer inspection. The visitor's emotions will be detected by some advanced equipment installed in the glass room, and fragrances will be chosen according to the emotion and mixed into a bottle of perfume, which will be given to the visitor as a gift.
