Subway authorities are hunting down a man whose reckless behavior put his life and the lives of others at risk several nights ago when he shot a video of an incoming train from the tracks below at Youyi Road station along the Line 3 subway in northern Baoshan district.

The 50-second clip from the July 24 incident was subsequently posted to Youku. com, one of China's leading online video-sharing platforms, and reveals shaky images of the train approaching - short breaths from the videographer are mixed into the background noise of screeching brakes as the train pulls to a halt before the man wriggles out from underneath.

When he climbs back onto the platform, a voice on the video is heard asking him what he was doing, to which the man responds, "It was an accident," before the clip ends.

According to Feng Hao, press officer for the city subway operator Shanghai Shentong Metro Company, the driver of the train was forced to slam on the emergency brake.

"The shooter of the video is very lucky that the train was already slowing down when it pulled into the station," he told the Global Times Sunday. "He could have been seriously hurt, or worse.

"His prank also put others on the train in danger as the emergency brake can some-times create a jolt, which makes it easier for the passengers on board to lose their balance and fall," he added.
