Global Times: From the Asia perspective, what does the US’s putting more importance on China stand for? What influence it will bring to Asia? Will India/ Russia/ Japan/ South Korea/ Europe/ Australia adjust its foreign policy according to the development of the current Sino-US relationship? If so, what is the adjustment?

Yang: To other East Asia countries, they will feel comfortable if the Sino-US relation goes smoothly. They don’t want to see that China has disputes with US and the confliction further develop to some extent that they have to make a choice between the two. But on the other hand, other Asian countries are precautious against China, because when they are not powerful enough to affect China, they definitely want US to constrain China.
