Global Times: The overall gap between China and the US is getting smaller. Do you think the two countries will have more strategic conflicts than strategic cooperation? Do you think the two countries will create a new mode that will constrain conflicts effectively?

Ni: Whether there are more strategic conflicts or cooperation, it is related to strategic mutual trust. Sino-US relations are quite complicated, and so it is an issue of how to manage conflicts. Due to the complexity of Sino-US relations, both sides should talk and set up multiple dialogue mechanisms. But it is still early to establish the mode of effectively restricting Sino-US conflicts.
