Global Times: The overall gap between China and the US is getting smaller…will the two countries have more conflicts than cooperation?

Ravenhill: I had a great belief in the aggressive inter-dependence, of course, in what one sees, between China and the US. It’s a very strong economic linkage. It’s clear in neither country’s interest to see that these are fractured in any way. So again I’d agree that it’s good leadership to make sure that these ties are strengthened. We can build on it from economic links to better links in political and strategic areas.
