Global Times: Many people are talking about a G2 between China and the US. What do you think of that? Would this be a good thing for the respective countries and the world?

Paal: China is not ready for a G2. It lacks the necessary capacity beyond its own territory. Nor would it be right for two capitals to make decisions about the interests of others. But the two countries do have growing responsibilities, and China’s are growing faster than America’s.
