Global Times: Many people are talking about a G2 between China and the US. What do you think of that? Would this be a good thing for the respective countries and the world?

Chang: I myself do not subscribe to this notion. The world is much more than just two countries. These two countries happened to be standing out at this moment, but the world is shared by more than 200 nations. The G2 concept may not have a real basis. As flattering as it is to China, I don’t think China is matched to the US in the overall influence in world affairs.
