Global Times: From the Bangladeshi perspective, what does the US’s putting more importance on China stand for? What influence it will bring to the China-Bangladesh relations? Will Bangladesh adjust its foreign policy according to the development of the current Sino-US relationship? If so, what is the adjustment?

Muniruzzaman: Bangladesh will not adjust its foreign policy, as China and Bangladesh have been close friends for many years. Bangladesh considers China not only a friend, but also a strategic friend. Therefore, we never depend on our relationship with China on relationships that China develops with other nations because our relationship with China is far deeper than those considerations. At the same time we also have quite a close and friendly relationship with the US. So we are at any time quite happy and satisfied to see both of our friends, especially China, our strategic friend and partner, getting closer together.
