American table tennis team visited China

In April, 1971, after taking part in the 31st World Table Tennis Championships in Japan, the American table tennis team expressed interest in visiting China. On April 6, the Chinese table-tennis Association invited the US team to come to China. On April 14, Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai met all members of the American table tennis team. Premier Zhou said, “Your visit has opened the door of bilateral relationship. We believe the friendly exchange between China and the US will get support from many people.”
