A Beijing court recently ordered subway operators to compensate a passenger 20,000 yuan ($3,128) who suffered broken ribs while being squeezed onto a crowded train, Legal Mirror reported August 10, 2015. The passenger surnamed Zhu filed a lawsuit against the Beijing Subway Company after he was injured while passengers pushed him from behind at Sihui station on September 16, 2013. Xicheng District People's Court found the subway operators had failed to conduct proper security measures. Subway stations in China’s major cities - Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou – are often scenes of crammed crowds, especially during rush hours.
