The ancient art of papermaking in Shiqiao village, Danzhai county, Southwest China’s Guizhou Province has a history of more than 1,500 years. The village enjoys the reputation of being the birthplace of ancient handmade paper. The calligraphy paper called “yinchun” produced here is used by China’s National Library and National Museum as heritage restoration paper. The annual consumption of the raw material for paper – bark of paper mulberry – can reach 80 tons in the village. (Photos: Li Hao/GT)
